We have had many Shormann Math students take dual credit courses or Classical Conversations, that require them to take the Saxon weekly tests to verify their achievement. Our students do very well on these tests because Shormann teaches topics earlier than Saxon. For example, upon completion of Shormann Algebra 1 & 2, students earn 1 full credit of geometry while Saxon users have only earned 2/3 credit.
Another example: Student who complete Shormann Algebra 1, have learned more than what is in the first quarter of Saxon Algebra 2.
Instructions
If possible, to ensure readiness and get the highest possible score, follow the steps below. If the student is not able to do this, they should still pass the tests.
-
If your student did not use Shormann for their last math course, they should start Shormann Math at least two weeks before the dual credit or CC class starts. For example, if you student took Saxon 7/6 and will now be taking Shormann Pre-Algebra along with a class that requires the Saxon 8/7 or Algebra 1/2 weekly tests, have them start Shormann Pre-Algebra 2 weeks or more before the Saxon class starts.
-
If your student is using Shormann Algebra 2 but used Saxon for Algebra 1, should complete the "Geometry Prep Lessons for Saxon Users" linked on the Course Home page of their Shormann Algebra 2 course. Why? Because Saxon Algebra 1 does not teach all the Geometry concepts taught in Shormann Algebra 1. Therefore, to bridge the gap between Saxon Algebra 1 and Shormann Algebra 2, the course includes about 20 geometry concepts which takes about 4 days to complete. If possible, we recommend starting this prep course a few weeks or more before starting your Shormann course or about 3 weeks before your Saxon class starts.
-
Shormann Math Users: If your student used Shormann Math for their last math course, if possible, should start their Shormann Math course one week or more before the dual credit or CC class starts.
- Because Shormann Math uses continual review, which means every concept is continually reviewed throughout the course, it if not necessary to do the exact lessons in Shormann Math that are on that week's Saxon test.
Save Time & Money: Earn College Credit by Exam
