Dr. Shormann strongly advises against re-taking Quizzes to raise grades for multiple reasons:
-
Retaking quizzes negatively affects building retention and fluency, causing gaps which make learning math harder. Why?
-
They have already had 4 tries for each question and received extra credit if they correct their answer.
-
After submitting the Quiz, students see all the correct answers nd can easily download a PDF of the answers to use during their second attempt. Therefore the grade of the second attempt is not an accurate reflection of what they student knows.
-
It is much more efficient to follow the steps under "Corrections" on the Quiz Instructions Sheet
- This method builds fluency which makes learning math faster and easier!
CRITICAL! If your student has not been following these steps, they have developed gaps, making math harder and slower. To quickly fill these gaps and build retention and fluency, follow these steps: Remediation Plan
