Are DIVE and Shormann Math courses NCAA approved?
The NCAA considers DIVE and Shormann Math traditional homeschool curriculum because the homeschool parent or tutor has the authority to change grades and reset assignments, awards the final grade, and issues the transcript. The NCAA does not require approval of traditional curriculum. We have many NCAA students who use our curriculum and now play NCAA. Justin Jackson, who played basketball for UNC, is a former student. Does Shormann Math have "real" textbooks with an ISBN?
While they do not require use of a hardcopy, the NCAA Core Course Worksheets require an ISBN for each textbook. The ISBN for each Shormann Math textbook is listed on our Instructions for Core Course Worksheets above.
How do I list credits on the NCAA Transcript?
While the parent is the primary teacher who will assign the grade and issue the transcript, we provide a recommended name of the requirement and credits earned in each course for use on the student’s transcript. DIVE Instructions for NCAA Transcripts
NCAA Curriculum Guidelines:
- Who determines what score or grade is achieved in the course(s)?
If the outside school or program determines the grade the student has earned, that suggests a nontraditional course. If the parent or tutor decides what grade the student has earned, that suggests homeschooling. - Who is responsible for producing a student transcript or grade report?
If the transcript or grade report is produced by the outside school or program, that suggests a nontraditional course. If the transcript or grade report is produced by the parent or tutor, or home school umbrella program, that suggests home schooling.
Does DIVE provide video instruction and grading?
While DIVE and Shormann Math self-paced eLearning courses includes video instruction, automated grading, and grade recording, the parent has the authority to change grades, reset assignments, modify the course by skipping or adding assignments, awards the final grade, and issues the transcript. Therefore, the parent is the primary teacher and our courses should be listed as traditional homeschool courses on the NCAA Homeschool application.
