Students who have taken Apologia Physical Science or another Physical Science* that does not include all the introductory chemistry concepts needed to learn Biology, can use this accelerated schedule for DIVE Integrated Chemistry and Physics to fill in the gaps and prepare students for Biology..
If your student has not taken a physical science course, but needs to start Biology soon, have them complete only the first semester of DIVE ICP (intro chemistry). This will provide the prep needed for Biology.
REQUIREMENTS
To use this schedule, students must have completed Pre-Algebra or taking the second half of Pre-Algebra along with the course.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Instead of following the daily schedule in the eLearning course, use the modified schedule below to complete the course in 8-10 weeks.
- Work on ICP 4-5 days per week for an hour or so per day. At the end of this time, stop and pick up where you left off the next day. If all the assignments for Week 1 are finished on day 3, go ahead and start week 2 on day 4. This will help the student progress a little faster through the lessons.
SCHEDULE
Weeks 1-15
- Read the definitions flashcards
- Reading Assignment: If your student used Apologia Physical Science they only need to complete the reading assignments for Weeks 4, 9, 13, 14, and 15.

- Complete the Review Questions
- Watch the weekly video lab and complete the lab manual activity sheet.

*It is not necessary to memorize the material. We simply want to expose the student to these concepts to prepare them for upper level Biology, Chemistry, & Physics.
FAQs
Is there a discounted rate for using the Accelerated Schedule of DIVE ICP?
I’m sorry, but we do not have a reduced rate.
Alternatively, you can use the DIVE Integrated Chemistry and Physics Internet Textbook (free) and complete the reading for the first 15 reading assignments not taught in Apologia Physical Science. The reading syllabi for Apologia Physical Science and other textbooks are linked on the DIVE ICP Teacher Guide under "Select a Reading Syllabus", near the end of the document. This is not as easy and efficient as using the full DIVE course but it is free!
Does completion of the accelerated schedule earn High School science credit?
No. The accelerated schedule does not cover enough material for a High School science credit to be earned.
