Like John Saxon's* original texts, Shormann Interactive Math courses develop mastery and long-term retention by using a unique, research proven process called Incremental Development and Continual Review. This means complex concepts are broken down into bite-sized steps that are easy to understand. This step is then practiced several times each day in the daily homework, over a long period of time (5-10 days), allowing time to master the new concept before the next one is added. Then, the next step is added and both steps are practiced together until it's time to introduce the next one. As opposed to spiral review, continual review means that all previously presented concepts are practiced extensively throughout the course, developing long-term retention and fluency.
Researchers over the past 30 years have found that this methodology is superior to all other methods. It is the most efficient method to build mastery, develop long-term retention, increase recall speed (fluency), and raise standardized test scores like the PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
