Math Placement for a Reluctant or Struggling Math Student in Fourth Grade

Regardless of what curriculum was used or what grade the student made in 3rd grade, we recommend the following*:

• Option 1 (Recommended): Take DIVE Video Lessons + Saxon 5/4 (Fourth Grade Math) and use the Timed Method to allow your student to learn at their own pace. It may take the student more than one school year to complete this course. No placement test needed.
   

• Option 2: Take Saxon Math 3 (Third Grade) 
  Moving down one grade level allows students to build fluency which makes learning math faster and easier. However, DIVE Video Lessons are not available for this title. 

  *Saxon Math placement in K-7 is developmental, not skill based. The first 30 lessons have all the review needed to prepare the student for the remaining lessons. However, it is critical that you use the The Timed Method: Frustration Free Math
