- Reluctant or Struggling Math Students
Dr. Shormann generally recommends giving these students more time to mature developmentally before starting Algebra 1. For many, the best next step is Shormann Pre-Algebra, which helps build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and prepare them for greater success in Algebra 1. This is an honors level, pre-AP, 21st Century course that has many topics concepts not found in traditional pre-algebra courses.
- Good or Strong Math Students
7th Grade students who earned an 80+ in a formal pre-algebra course, Saxon 8/7, Saxon Algebra 1/2, etc, should be ready for Shormann Algebra 1 with Integrated Geometry. While a placement test is NOT required, there is an optional one here: Placement Test
