Shormann Algebra 2 with Integrated Geometry
- For all other Algebra 2 courses, see below:
If your student is a struggling or reluctant math student, Dr. Shormann recommends taking Shormann Algebra 1 with Integrated Geometry. Why? Because the first 1/2 credit of geometry is taught in Algebra 1. While a good or strong math student can learn these geometry concepts in the review lessons of Shormann Algebra 2, it is very difficult and frustrating for a reluctant math student to learn this way.
If this is for a good or strong math student who successfully completed Algebra 1 and 2, Dr. Shormann recommends taking Shormann Algebra 2 with Integrated Geometry to earn the geometry credit. Upon completion, the student will earn one full credit of geometry* while developing and maintaining fluency in the Algebra 2 skills needed to learn Precalculus as well as excel on the PSAT, SAT, and ACT**.
*How is a full credit of Geometry earned in Shormann Algebra 2?
The first 25 lessons of Shormann Algebra 2 review the geometry concepts taught in Shormann Algebra 1 (1/2 credit of geometry). The remaining lessons in Shormann Algebra 2 teach all the concepts required to earn the second 1/2 credit of geometry. Therefore, students who have taken Algebra 2 (without geometry) can list Shormann Algebra 2 as a Geometry credit on their high school transcript. Learn More: How to Make Transcripts
**How PSAT, SAT, ACT, CLEP & AP Exams: Shormann Algebra 2 teaches every concept on college entrance exams and has over 100 PSAT, SAT, ACT, and CLEP practice problems. A CLEP prep course is included that specifically prepares students for the CLEP College Algebra exam which can earn up to 3 college credits.
Can my student complete only the Geometry lessons in Shormann Algebra 2?
There is no way to complete only the geometry lessons because they are integrated with the Algebra 2 concepts. However, reviewing the Algebra 2 concepts will develop fluency in these skills which are required to learn the geometry concepts, and raises scores on standardized tests like the PSAT, SAT, and ACT which test both Algebra and Geometry concepts.
